Engineering Note
A datasheet is most useful when it can be connected to the exact equipment being offered. Before using one for a project decision, check both the information it contains and the configuration to which that information applies.
1 Identify the exact product
Match the manufacturer, model, variant and document revision to the quotation. Confirm whether the document describes a complete assembly, a switching unit, a pole assembly or an operating mechanism. If optional components appear in a photograph or drawing, ask whether they are included in the offered configuration.

2 Read the full parameter names
Compare the name, unit and stated conditions of each parameter. Where a rating includes a duration, test voltage or other condition, keep that condition with the value. Record conflicts between a description and a table as questions for clarification; a similar-looking number is not a sufficient basis for substitution.
3 Check the service conditions
Compare the stated indoor or outdoor use, temperature range, altitude and environmental limits with the installation site. Ask for clarification when a broad marketing statement appears to conflict with a more specific limit. Keep maintenance requirements linked to the applicable operating manual.

4 Review the interfaces
Check mounting dimensions, connection points and the available installation space against the current drawing. Include control and auxiliary connections where applicable. Record the drawing revision that was reviewed so a later change can be traced.
5 Check what the supporting evidence covers
A standards reference identifies a technical framework. For example, IEC 62271-100 addresses alternating-current circuit-breakers, while IEC 62271-103 addresses alternating-current switches within its stated scope. A reference on a brochure does not by itself establish that the offered configuration has passed particular tests. Match any supplied report to its model, scope, ratings and tested configuration.
Keep open points in one clarification list with the affected document and revision. Use the agreed configuration and applicable supporting documents for the final review.
